The boys soccer team took their first loss of the season this Saturday to the Einstein Titans 4-1.

Despite getting an early lead after captain Jeff Rosenberg scored in the first half, the Vikes couldn’t hold the Titans who tied it up at one-a-piece.

The boys were still very much in the game until forward Aaron Tanenbaum received a questionable red card. Seemingly questionable calls throughout the entire game made catching up a tough task for the Vikes, as the Titans extended their lead to 4-1.

Despite the disappointing loss, captain Ian Atkinson is confident that Whitman is still the team to beat in Montgomery County.

“Our chances are very good for a deep [playoff] run,” Atkinson said. “I think collectively we believe that if we play as one this could be our year.”

Atkinson doesn’t believe that their most recent performance is representative of the team’s full potential and thinks that moving forward the Vikes should still be a major force.

“I still think that we are the team to beat in Montgomery County and today’s game will have little effect on our season,” he said.
