Today, puppies visited Whitman for the second time this year: parent volunteers brought dogs to the auditorium lobby during both lunches.
The goal of today’s visit was to provide an outlet for those coping with the recent tragedy in the Buarque De Macedo family, Whitman parent Allison Fox said.
Students said that playing with the dogs significantly improved their day.
“It was definitely helpful,” sophomore Aaron Titlebaum said. “It brightened the day and my mood. It just made me happy.”
Because of the puppies’ success in relieving stress with the student body, Fox said she hopes to create a regular program where the dogs come once or twice a month.
“I think it’s nice for [students] to have a break and sit with the dogs, who are loving, playful and happy to see them. [Students] get to interact and pet them and feed them and it brings unadulterated joy.”
