Third singles player Lauren Evoy and the second doubles team of Miranda Tompkins and Emily Zitner represented the girls tennis team in this week’s regional tournament. Tompkins and Zitner reached the quarterfinals, losing to the Sherwood Warriors 0-6, 5-7, and Evoy lost in the first round 3-6, 4-6 to the Blair Blazers.
“[Emily and I] both picked up our game during the second set, but they were really good players,” Tompkins said. “Playing with Emily this season has been really fun and I think we’ve improved a lot.”
This tournament ended the Vikings’ successful 9-3 season, with many members of the team advancing far in last week’s counties tournament.
“I played well and got to see [Coach Wayerski] one last time before our banquet and after that, until next season,” Evoy said. “It was difficult but it was a great close of the season for me.”
