Whitman’s Varsity Lacrosse team made and sent care packages to troops in Afghanistan, an effort organized by Captain Alex Hosker.
“We’re working with ASA, or Americans Supporting Americans, an organization that works with lacrosse teams that supports the troops,” Hosker said.
The team hopes that the care packages will improve soldiers’ quality of life.
“In our case we’re taking food, playing cards and other necessities in care packages and sending them to Afghanistan this evening,” Hosker said.
Hosker designed this event to match the lacrosse team’s nickname, the War Team.
“Helping out the troops is in the spirit of the War Team,” he said.
Team members agreed that the event was important.
“Every team should do it,” freshman Gunnar Morton said. “Soldiers should be recognized for what they do.”
