With a 4-2 lead going into the bottom of the sixth inning, the softball team gave up a walk off grand slam, resulting in a heartbreaking 6-4 loss to the National Cathedral Eagles this Thursday.
“It was disappointing how the game ended considering how well the first five innings went, but they just happened to have a really good hit with the bases loaded,” outfielder Halle Pollack said. “Everyone played really great and the coaches were really impressed by today’s game.”
The Vikings displayed sparkling defense, turning multiple double plays in early innings to help starting pitcher Lauren Furst get out of some tough jams.
“It was the best game we’ve played all year,” outfielder Olivia Berson said. “I think we’re all pretty happy with how we played, even though we lost.”
The 4-10 Vikings look to get back on the right track when they travel to face the Gaithersburg Trojans this Friday.
