The girls soccer team shut out the 2-2 Magruder Colonels 3-0 Sept. 20, improving its record to 4-0.
The Vikes began the game strong as ever when, within the first minute of the game, midfielder Hanna Lee shot a spectacular header into the top left corner of the net. The Vikes couldn’t convert for the rest of the first half, but had many shots.
“The whole team played really well,” midfielder Anna Gurney said. “We had a lot of opportunities and chances.”
In the second half, the Colonels committed a foul on forward Andrea McDonald and midfielder Aliza Wolfe calmly booted the resulting penalty kick into the lower right corner of the net. The team sealed its victory in the final 20 minutes of the game when the ball bounced out of the hands of the Colonel’s goalie, and forward Dani Okon touched it in.
“Hopefully we can carry our shots and our goals into the next game,” Gurney said.
The Vikes look forward to facing off against the 4-0 Good Counsel Falcons Sept. 22 away.
