Wrestling defeats Wheaton 78-6, improves to 2-0

Varsity wrestling defeated the Wheaton Knights 78-6 on Dec 14, improving their record to 2-0.

The Vikes took an early lead against the Knights, beginning with Kevin Whitmeyer (140 lb) who took down his opponent 9-2, giving the Vikes an early 18-0 lead.

Wheaton fired back almost immediately with a 2-5 win in the 145-pound class, bringing the score to 18-6. This, however, was the last time Wheaton scored for the remainder of the match.

From that point on, the team did not look back, with 152-pound wrestler Andrew Follmann receiving forfeits and 160 pounder Alex Hysong defeating his opponent 2-0,   giving the team a sufficient lead of 30-6.
