Girls volleyball fell to the Churchill Bulldogs (3–2) on Wednesday in straight sets.
The Vikes headed into the game after their first-season loss and were ready to return to their winning ways, but the Bulldogs were too strong for Whitman to compete against. Whitman fell to Churchill 24–15 in the first set. After the first loss, the energy started to run low, and the Bulldogs were too fast for the Vikes to keep up with, ending the second set in a 25–12 loss. In what could be their final set, Whitman put up a powerful fight, but it was still no match for the Bulldogs.
Even with the loss the Vikes had some standout players. Senior, middle Andrea Ellers Ruiz showed out last night for the Vikes. Sophomore, setter Camilla Fan also had a fantastic showing last night. Finally, sophomore Eliza Lowe was a standout in the game. All in all the Vikes left it out of the court.
The Vikes take the road again to face the Bethesda Chevy Chase Barons (3–1) on Tuesday, September 26.
