NBA 2K11 provides gamers with realistic gameplay

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be in Michael Jordan’s shoes? Have you ever wanted to play MJ’s infamous “Flu Game” or reenact “The Shrug?” Well, you are in luck with 2K Sports’ NBA 2K11.

This year’s new NBA game offers players a chance to play as Michael Jordan in 10 of his most famous games, which he chose himself. These special scenarios are called “Jordan Challenges.” Once players complete all of the “Jordan Challenges,” they unlock the newest game mode, “MJ: Create-A-Legend Mode,” which allows players to put Jordan on any current NBA roster and to develop him into a legend. If you want to put Jordan on the Miami Heat, go right ahead, although it’s a little unfair to make a starting five that consists of Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Jordan.

NBA 2K11is in an entirely different league from every other NBA game, including the EA Sports NBA Live/Elite franchise. Not only are the graphics greatly improved, but a new shot-control system and a new type of gameplay system called IsoMotion Dribbling provides the most realistic action to date.

With a new game comes a plethora of new authentic features. For example, each NBA arena contains the same arena sounds as in real life. Also, every star player on every team has his own signature dribbling, shooting and running.

The game does have one flaw: passing controls. It’s virtually impossible to pass the ball across the court; as the opposing team, almost every time, snatches the ball for a

steal. This may be 2K’s attempt to make the game emphasize ball movement, but it results in an overall mess.

Still, even with the abysmal passing controls, NBA 2K11 simply brings gamers the best NBA title to date.
