Girls lacrosse takes down Churchill 10–5

The girls lacrosse team (5–0) conquered the Churchill Bulldogs (2–1) 10–5 Monday in a physical battle.

The teams traded goals early in the game, with the score tied 3–3 at one point in the first half. Both squads played aggressively, causing three yellow cards to be given in the first 10 minutes of play. The Vikes were able to breakthrough the back and forth battle and take a 6–3 lead going into halftime. In the second half, they built on their first half performance to secure their lead until the final whistle.

Goalie Jackie Shipp held a solid defense in the second half, only allowing in two goals, one of which was in the final seconds. Attackers Grace Nemeroff and Abby Waldvogel and midfielder Kieley O’Hara led the Vikes in scoring with two goals each.

The team’s next game is away against the Einstein Titans Wednesday at 7pm.
