Co-ed volleyball edges out Wheaton 3–2

By Ally Navarrete

The co-ed volleyball team (1–1) took down the Wheaton Knights in five sets for a final score of 3–2 Monday.

The Vikes lacked energy during the first set and struggled with several technical errors, leading to a Knights’ victory. During the second set, the Vikes changed their lineup and improved their communication to defeat the Knights in the next two sets.

The fourth set went back and forth. The Vikes had a technical error late in the game, giving the ball back to the Knights, who scored and won the fourth set. The match went into a tiebreaker fifth set, which is shorter than the other four. Middle back Xandra Chen had strong, consistent serves which helped the Vikes ultimately win the set and the match.

The team next faces the Paint Branch Panthers Wednesday at 5:30 at Paint Branch High School.
