The Lady Vikes dodged an early bullet when a Patriot attacker got a shot off near the penalty box, but goalkeeper Hannah Sasscer dove to her left and saved the shot.

The girls applied pressure to the Patriots and controlled possession for the majority of the first half.  Their domination translated into a goal when forward Lucy Areledge crossed the ball to midfielder Nora Jodrey who buried the ball in the back of the net.

The Vikings went into halftime up 1-0.

Whitman continued to pressure the Patriot defense in the second half, but squandered several opportunities that would have provided some insurance goals.

Goalkeeper Hannah Sasscer did her part and turned in her third consecutive shutout.

Next up for the Vikings is another home game against the Gaithersburg Trojans on September 22.
