The girls lacrosse team (7–2) shut down the Quince Orchard Cougars 14–4 Monday behind a quick start offensively and defensively.
The Vikes were patient on the attack, which helped them jump out to a 10–1 lead early on.
“We came on with a lot of momentum and continued to win draws and immediately drive to goal,” attacker Gaby Svec said.
The Vikes continued this momentum, and were able to score off of almost every possession using plays and communication. After taking a big lead, the squad decided to focus on setting up teammates instead of scoring without assists, Svec said.
The Vikes also dominated the Cougars defensively with aggressive play by the team’s midfielders and the squad’s communication. This strategy by the Vikes’ midfielders caused the Cougars to drop multiple passes.
Goalie Claire Hisle also contributed to the defensive effort, shutting down the multiple Cougar shot attempts.
The Vikes’ next game is April 25 against the Blair Blazers at 7:15.
