The girls lacrosse team (5–2) defeated the Walter Johnson Wildcats 12–6 Monday, despite a slow start and the absence of midfielder Eden Gray.
After getting ejected from the Vikes’ last game, Gray was suspended for Monday’s contest against the Wildcats. Gray is the Vikings’ leading scorer and has scored over 10 goals in the past two weeks.
Without Gray, the team fell behind in the first few minutes of the game. The Vikes struggled on offense early on.
But the squad bounced back, taking a 6–3 lead into the half behind dominating offense and steadfast defense.
“Our defense was able to slow down WJ and cause turnovers then our attack used plays to score goals,” attacker Clare Cunniff said.
Attacker Gaby Svec led the Vikes offensively with multiple goals and helped set up her teammates.
The Vikes face the B-CC Barons Thursday at 7:15.
