Varsity boys lacrosse fell to the Wootton Patriots 11-5 in the regional finals, May 19, marking an end to a tremendous season.

The Patriots started the game strong, scoring the first three goals of the game.

However, attacker Patrick Slawta dodged through the Patriot defense and assisted midfielder Will Bumpers who tossed the ball into the net.

Wootton then countered with another four goals, but the Vikings mounted a small comeback in the second quarter.  Slawta passed to midfielder Ross Koehn who scored with a shot to the upper corner of the goal.

Less than twenty seconds later, midfielder Larry Kline spun past the defense for an unassisted shot on goal. With a minute left in the half, attacker Jordan Karr scored, bringing the score to 7-4 at the half.

Four minutes into the third quarter, Slawta scored the last goal for the Vikings with an incredible move that split the defense and created a shooting opportunity.

Although the Viking defense played strong throughout the game, it could not handle the powerful Patriot offense.

After a final Wootton goal, the game ended 11-5.

The sight is all too familiar for the seniors on the team, who ended their season to the Patriots last year in the regional finals.
