Varsity baseball lost to the Gaithersburg Trojans 8-2 in the regional semifinals, May 19, ending its season.
The boys fell behind early, but tied the game at one in the bottom of the third inning.
The Trojans had a four-run fourth inning and took a 5-1 lead. The Vikings struggled at the plate and couldn’t get men in scoring position.
Center fielder James Dionne scored the final run of the game after the Gaithersburg catcher overthrew the third baseman while trying to throw Dionne out.
The Vikes could not score any more runs in the bottom of the seventh and the game ended 8-2.
Coach Joe Cassidy left the game after arguing with the umpire, but will lead the team next year.
