The girls volleyball team’s season ended Monday evening with a 3–0 loss to the Churchill Bulldogs in the second round of playoffs.
The Vikings were unable to keep up with the Bulldogs’ aggressive play, which led Churchill to a 13–1 regular-season record and first place in the county.
“They’re a smart team. They pick on your weak spots,” setter and team captain Maddie McGill said. “Their defense is fast and it’s hard to put the ball down and generate points.”
Churchill’s offense has dominated for most of the season, including when the Vikes suffered a close 3–2 defeat to the Bulldogs in the regular season.
The Vikings finished their season with a 7–9 record overall, showing significant improvement throughout the season.
“Even though we lost, we played our hearts out. This team has grown so much, and we should all be proud of ourselves,” McGill said.
