The girls volleyball team was shut out 3–0 Tuesday evening by the Damascus Hornets.
The loss lowered the Vikings’ record to 6–7, leaving the team with only one game left to return to a .500 record before playoffs begin.
The Vikes struggled to maintain control throughout the game, and failed to communicate to regain the serve.
“Our mental game was weak and we let point loss get to us,” setter and team captain Maddie McGill said. “We definitely need to work on communication and energy on the court and staying positive to get the serve back on our side.”
The issues that plagued the Vikings on Tuesday evening have been present for most of the season, McGill said.
“Keeping up our mental game has been an issue throughout the whole season,” McGill said. “I think if we really focus in during our last game, we can improve.”
Tuesday’s game was the seventh straight away game for the Vikings, who have a different venue for all home games due to work on the gym. The Vikings finally return home this Friday for their final game of the season against the 8–4 Blake Bengals.
