The girls soccer team triumphed 3–0 over the Blair Blazers Monday night, landing the team their sixth win of the season.
Compared to last week’s 10–0 win against Kennedy, the Blazers proved to be tougher competition, limiting the Vikes’ scoring opportunities.
“They were decently well-organized on defense and packed a lot of people in their box when we were trying to score, but didn’t really threaten our defense too much,” midfielder Ellie Harris said.
Forward Abby Meyers scored the first goal of the game early on, but it wasn’t until the middle of the second half that midfielder Mary Kate Skilling scored the next goal, due in part to many unfinished opportunities on offense.
“We created a lot more chances in the second half in terms of shots on goal and we started moving the ball a bit faster,” Harris said.
The final goal came with only few minutes left on the clock when forward Mary Dimitrov was able to find the back of the net.
The Vikes head to Gaithersburg this Friday to face the Northwood Gladiators at 7:15.
