The boys lacrosse team advanced to the third round of the playoffs Friday evening after overcoming the Walter Johnson Wildcats 7–5 in the second round.
The Viking defense had to make up for a slow start and wait for the team’s offense, which didn’t pick up until the second half.
“Once we started to click, they could not stop us. The second half is where we played our best,” said midfielder Gunnar Morton.
The Vikings’ offense was again lead by attacker Richard Miller, who scored two goals following his emphatic 11-goal performance against Einstein.
Goalkeeper and team captain Colin Hains put in a strong performance on defense, holding the Wildcats to just five goals.
The Vikings next face rival Churchill Monday evening. The Vikes lost 12-3 to Churchill during the regular season, but hope to redeem themselves Monday.
“When the whole team plays how it should, everybody has a key performance,” Morton said.
