The Vikings have won two straight games, and are now 3–3 on the season.
Sean Cook had an impressive outing on the mound, pitching five innings and allowing just one earned run. Dylan Hurd came in as a relief pitcher to keep the Rockets scoreless in the final two innings.
The pitchers were supported by solid defense, as the Vikes tallied their third error-free game of the season. Starters and bench players alike put forth stellar effort at the plate, allowing the Vikings to extend their lead.
“A bunch of guys had hits, and it was a good all-around game,” centerfielder Eric Wayman said. “Everyone contributed.”
The team was still riding momentum from their 10–0 victory over Northwood on Wednesday.
“Yesterday’s win gave us a lot of confidence and we just carried it over into today’s game,” Wayman said.
The Vikings have picked up the intensity after a three-game losing streak, during which the team allowed 14 runs. In contrast, they have outscored their opponents by 20 runs over the past two games.
The Vikes will look to win their third straight April 10, when they play at Northwest at 1 p.m.
