Bouncing back from a pair of tough losses this weekend, the wrestling teamed rocked the Blake Bengals 64-14.
Fired up after a loss in the first match of the meet, the Vikes began to go on a warpath, immediately following with a major victory, and then eight straight pins, giving Whitman a healthy 52-3 lead. Afterwards, two losses were then followed by the final two Vikings pinning their opponents, leaving the score at 64-14.
In the series of dominating wins, the most impressive was heavyweight Jacob Winch, who has not wrestled since December due to sickness. Winch handled his opponent easily scoring a third period fall.
The heavyweights had a great night, dropping no matches. 170 pound Ezra Alexander and 182 pound Matthew McClanahan both earned pins in the first period.
Alexander says that it was a crucial win in order to rebound after the losses over the weekend against Damascus and Northwest.
“We definitely had a tough weekend but it says a lot about how we are as a team that we managed to win is such a dominating dual,” he said.
Whitman’s next match is Wednesday at home and will be senior night.
