Coming off their biggest win of the season, a 61-51 victory over the then 11-0 Paint Branch Panthers, the girls basketball team didn’t miss a step, dominating the 7-6 Quince Orchard Cougars 52-29 Friday.
The win lifts the Vikings to 11-0 and are the only undefeated team in the county.
Following a commanding 28-point game against Paint Branch, guard Abby Meyers scored a game-high 12 points. Guard Hannah Niles and forward Marie Hatch each added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
“We started off really slow, but finished a little stronger,” Hatch said. “Defensively, we were able to hold them to 29 points, which is awesome, but there were major things we need to work on. [Quince Orchard] played really well and they were winning at times in the beginning of the game, so credit to them.”
The first half was a seesaw battle, with the Vikings leading 12-8 after the first quarter and 21-16 at halftime.
With a 33-26 lead after the third, the Vikings turned on the after-burners and outscored the Cougars 19-3 in the final quarter.
In a game sure to feature playoff-like intensity, the girls will travel to face the tough 11-2 Walter Johnson Wildcats Monday.
