The girls tennis team lost to the underdog B-CC Barons 4-3 on Wednesday, dropping their third straight match of the season.
“Coming off of a few straight losses isn’t easy,” third doubles player Olivia Matthews said. “But we just keep practicing and encouraging each other to do our best and have fun with it too because that’s what matters.”
The Vikings had three winning matches, including third singles player Lauren Evoy in a 6-2, 6-1 rout.
The second doubles team of Miranda Tompkins and Emily Zitner won 6-2, 6-3 and the third doubles team of Anna Marcus and Matthews came on strong for a 7-6, 4-6, 6-1 victory.
“Wootton and Churchill have always been our toughest competition in the division, so we were prepared for it to be a fight,” Tompkins said. “Losing to B-CC took us by surprise, but I believe we will win the rest of our division matches and will be ready to take all on of these teams in the county tournament.”
The 3-3 girls look to bounce back when they host the Paint Branch Panthers Saturday morning.
