The boys lacrosse team dominated Clarksburg this Friday with a commanding 16-0 win, clinching their third victory in a row. A win next week against Seneca Valley will guarantee the Vikes a number two spot in the division.
During the senior night game, the Vikes changed up their positions to give all the seniors and younger players a chance to gain more experience on the field. Ace goalie Colin Hains gave up his large headed stick and played attack for the game, with freshmen Alex Crombie filling his place in front of the net.
Whitman dominated the Coyotes defense with both Alex Hilsenrath and Byron Kunst scoring hat-tricks, and Alex Hosker adding two goals. Even Hains, who was playing his first game on offense this season, scored a behind the back trick shot goal, which inspired the team to keep their intensity high the whole game.
“That got everyone fired up and motivated us to make sure we kept Clarksburg to zero points,” long-stick midfielder Danny Fraser said.
The Vikes hope to ride this momentum into their final regular season match-up and then into the postseason.
“We hope to continue the momentum by absolutely destroying Seneca Valley on Monday night, and bringing the Whitmaniacs support for our first playoff game,” senior Jorge Richardson said.
