The tennis team pulled through a rain plagued county tournament to finish third, adding to their regular season record of 7-4.

Junior Nathaniel Sherman, who plays 4 singles, continued his regular season success making it all the way to the county finals before losing to Blair.

Sherman’s run propelled Whitman ahead of Walter Johnson.

Singles players Lucas Schoch and Joe Davis lost in the semifinals, while Joey Gumataotao lost in the first round.

Doubles players Matt Yang and Tyler Jacobson, along with teammates David Bloch and Jack Storey both lost in the quarterfinals.

Nick Henning and Paul Lee lost in the semifinals.

“Even though we finished third in the county I think we were the best team in the state,” Schoch said.
