The baseball team improved its record to 2-1 April 3, defeating the 0-2 Wheaton Knights 49-0 in five innings.
For the second consecutive game, the Vikes mercy-ruled their opponents because they led by 10 or more runs after the fifth inning.
Whitman’s offense exploded in the first inning, scoring 26 runs on 13 hits. The Vikes never looked back and continued to dominate the game over the next four innings as they scored 23 more runs.
Junior Cal Brooks pitched a perfect four innings for the Vikes and was cushioned by a huge lead. Junior Alex Lesley came in during the fifth inning to close out the game.
“It felt great to be able to come out and throw well,” Brooks said. “The great offense allowed me to keep my momentum through the long innings.”
The boys look to win their third consecutive game when they take on the Sherwood Warriors April 4 at home.
