Girls soccer beats Kennedy 2-0

The girls soccer team overwhelmed the 1-5 Kennedy Cavaliers Sept. 27 with a score of 2-0, pulling in another win to boost its record to 5-1.

The Vikes came out strong, with a different starting lineup that was effective from the beginning.

Defenders Kristen Bissell and Cristina Valianatos were among the new starters that were handy in helping the Vikes shut out the Cavaliers on defense, defender Emily Martin said.

The Vikes thrived on offense— forward Andrea McDonald and defender Clare Severe scored a goal apiece.

The Vikes focused on making adjustments to their game for the second half.

“In the second half we talked about how we could change our formation, change the way we play the field and make what we were doing a little more productive,” Martin said.

Unfortunately the Vikes had limited time to put this to action. The game was cut short about ten minutes into the second half due to lightning.

The team looks forward to battling the 4-1 Churchill Bulldogs in a rival match that will take place at home on Oct. 3.
