Four male students were punished Friday evening for coming to the home football game under the influence of alcohol, principal Alan Goodwin said. Police at the game helped with the investigation, but the students were not arrested, he said.
The students received the Zero Tolerance penalty, which includes a 10-day suspension and ban from all extracurricular activities for six months.
Staff noticed the students seemed like they were under the influence of alcohol, P.E. teacher Joe Cassidy said. He and two other teachers saw them and directed police and security to investigate the situation.
Last year, eight students received the full Zero Tolerance penalty, but four of them worked 150 hours of community service
to reduce their punishment to three months, Goodwin said.
“A few kids will continue to make bad mistakes,” Goodwin said. “Hopefully they’ll see that we’re serious about looking out for this.”
