Softball defeats rival WJ, 4-3

The softball team improved its record to 4-5 after defeating the Walter Johnson Wildcats, 4-3, April 24.

Led by Helen Rosenthal on the mound, the Vikings held the high-powered Wildcats offense to just three runs.

Although the team had a slow start against one of the best teams in the county, the girls were able to put runs on the board thanks to a triple from second baseman Abby Fisher and hits by catcher Sydney Gertzog.

The game ended when Gertzog made a clutch double play, catching a pop-up foul ball and throwing it to second to get the stealing runner out.

The team looks to even its record at 5-5 when it faces the Wheaton Knights April 26.
