The baseball team beat the Damascus Hornets, 5-0, March 27, maintaining an undefeated record at 3-0.
Ryan McGill was the starting pitcher for the second time this season, and didn’t allow the Hornets to score the entire game. The Vikes led at the top of the fourth inning 2-0. Michael Yang stole second, third and home, and Dan Duffy slid into home off a double hit by Andrew Castagnetti. Josh Biel hit a ball into left field that allowed Patrick Hisle to score, bringing the Vikes up 5-0. The last three innings were scoreless.
Assistant coach TJ Caswell is especially looking forward to the Vikes’ next game against the Sherwood Warriors, who dominated the league last year.
“We took advantage and capitalized on the other team’s mistakes,” Caswell said. “Sherwood was the team to beat last year, but they graduated twelve seniors. It’s my alma matter too, so it’s the game I’m most excited about all season.”
Next, the Vikes take on the 1-1 Warriors at Sherwood March 29.
