The co-ed volleyball team defeated the Blake Bengals in five games March 26, bringing its record to 1-1.
The win was big for the Vikes, who had suffered a tough loss to BCC in their season opener. The scores of the games were 17-25, 25-21, 19-25, 25-19 and 15-10 respectively.
Outstanding play from outside hitters Catherine Benz and Adam Joel and setter Tamara Ibrahim in addition to great defense from Jake Zeisel and Franky Beiser helped the Vikes seal the victory. Jacob Rosenblum nailed his serves as well.
Although the Vikes played well, Benz believes the team still has a lot to work on.
“Re-setting after each point is essential,” Benz said. “We need to communicate so we don’t have any confusion on the court.”
The Vikes look to get another win when they host the Wheaton Knights March 28.
