The baseball team beat the 1-1 Blair Blazers, 8-2, in its home opener March 23, raising the team’s record to 2-0.
Michael Flack started at pitcher for the Vikes. The Blazers gained the first run of the game in the first inning, putting them up 1-0, but the Vikes recovered in the second inning with both Mike Yang and Ryan McGill making it to home to give the Vikings the 2-1 lead.
The Vikes racked up four more runs in the third and fourth innings, while the Blazer batters couldn’t get to home. Michael West took over as pitcher for Michael Flack in the fifth inning, and although the Blazers had one more run in the sixth inning, the Vikes had put the game out of reach.
Drew Aherne, Ryan McGill and Michael Yang each scored two runs for the team.
Next, the Vikes take on the 0-1 Damascus Hornets March 27 at home.
