Girls basketball defeats Springbrook, raises record to 11-7

The girls basketball team defeated the 12-6 Springbrook Devils, 75-64, Feb. 3, improving its record on the season to 11-7.

Both teams exchanged great offensive plays in this high-scoring thriller, as each team had three players contribute 10 or more points.

The Devils came out strong and won the first quarter 17-16. But the Vikes stepped up their defense in the second, holding the Devils to just 13 points, while scoring 23 of their own. The Vikes led 39-30 heading into halftime.

After the halftime break, the teams traded points, but the Devils ended up taking the third quarter 17-15. But the Vikes high-octane offense came back alive in the fourth, with the team ultimately outscoring the Devils 21-17.

The Vikes had eight different players score en route to the win. Guards Rachel Sisco and Kim Durante added 18 and 16 points respectively, with forward Kristina Feldesman contributing 12 points of her own.

The team travels to Gaithersburg Feb. 10 to play the undefeated Trojans.
