Montgomery County Police arrested Julius West Middle School teacher and Richard Montgomery cross country, track and boys basketball coach Scott Spear Feb. 2 for committing two fourth-degree sex offenses.
Spear, 47, is charged with having sexual relations with a 16-year-old Richard Montgomery High School student. An anonymous source notified the police Jan. 27 after the 16-year-old student told the source in November that she had sex with Spear, her track coach at the time.
Spear has been her track coach since 2009 and also taught the girl when she was in eighth grade. While he was her coach, they reportedly were in constant contact via cell phone, and in April or May 2011, when he asked if she wanted to meet, she agreed, according to the police’s press release. Spear took her to a residence in Rockville, where they had sexual relations that night and the next night.
“Mr. Spear is on administrative leave at this time,” Julius West principal Nanette Poirer wrote in an email to parents Thursday afternoon. “Please know that the safety and security of your children is of the utmost importance to me and to the JW staff.”

Its not statutory rape. The age of consent in Maryland is 16. Its against the law because he was her coach. If he was the next door neighbor then no law would have been broken.

I hate stories like this, I get that it’s statutory rape but still a girl gives consent and then ruins his life
