The hockey team defeated the Sherwood Warriors, 8-4, Jan. 27, raising its record to 7-1.
The Vikes started the game off strong, and never looked back when Andy Dexter scored the first goal of the game. Defenseman JM Hellman followed up with another goal.
The Vikes brought up seniors Chase Smith, Danny Milzman, Seth Massey and Mikey Gura from the junior varsity squad in order to play in the senior night game.
Due to strong playing on both the offensive and defensive ends of the ice, the Vikes were able to seal the 8-4 victory.
Hellman believes that the team’s offense has begun to work together effectively, resulting in the team’s victory.
“We are coming together as a team and are confident,” he said. “We’ve got a good shot at beating Churchill next time we play them.”
The Vikes are currently ranked behind the 8-2 Churchill Bulldogs, who they fell to, 4-3, Jan. 6. The Bulldogs gave the Vikes their only loss of the season.
The Vikes face off next against the Wootton Patriots Feb. 3.
