The boys basketball team lost, 58-45, against the 10-5 BCC Barons Jan. 27, lowering its record to 3-12.
After the Vikings’ previous last-second 53-49 loss to the Barons earlier in the season, the BCC gym was filled to capacity with boisterous crowds. The Vikes started out at a deficit, trailing the Barons 14-8 in the first quarter. The boys were unable to make their shots under the pressure, and went into the half trailing 28-22.
Forward Nick Yockey brought some life back to the Vikings offense in the second half. Yockey blocked a shot, and was followed by a rebound by forward Andrew Castegnetti for a lay-up that Yockey tipped in to narrow their deficit to 15 points. The quarter ended with the Vikings down, 48-32.
The Vikes picked up their scoring in the last quarter of the game. Guard Jake Harrison never let up his aggression; after making a point off of a foul shot, Harrison stole the ball off the rebound to rack up another two points. Despite their best efforts, the Vikings lost, 58-45.
Next, the Vikings travel to take on the 9-7 Wootton Patriots Jan. 30.
