The boys basketball team lost, 57-30, to the 11-3 Churchill Bulldogs, Jan. 24, bringing its record to 3-11.

The Vikes had a rough start, managing to only score one point in the first quarter. The Bulldogs’ rough, aggressive defense succeeded in blocking the Vikes’ attempts to score. Churchill increased its lead in the second quarter, and the half ended with the Vikes down 35-6.
The Vikes were led by their younger talent, as forward Anton Casey headed the team with 11 points, nine of which came from three-pointers.
Though disappointed with the team’s loss, forward Alex Pomerenk said the Vikes are focused now on gearing up towards their upcoming game against B-CC, to whom they lost to in a close 53-49 game earlier in the season.
“We knew going into it that it was going to be a tough game [against Churchill],” Pomerenk said. “We know we can come in close against BCC, so we hope to come back strong.”
Next, the Vikes travel to BCC to take on the 9-5 Barons Jan. 27.
