The indoor track team competed in the Montgomery County Championship in Landover Jan. 23.
The girls team looked strong and eventually finished seventh, while the boys struggled, placing eighteenth.
Clare Severe placed fifth in the girls 800 meter dash, while teammate Caroline Guiot placed tenth in the same event. Guiot also won the girls 3200 meter run. Captain Madeline Entwistle placed fifth in the girls 55 meter hurdles and fourth in the girls high jump.
The girls team also placed third in the 4×800 meter relay with a time of 10:06.67.
On the boys team, freshman Rio Chiba placed eighth in the boys 300 meter dash with a time of 37.04. Chiba also placed fifth in the 500 meter dash. Senior Nick Adams placed seventh in the boys 1600 meter run.
Entwistle said she was impressed the team’s improvement throughout the season.
“The girls 4×200 worked so hard and you can tell by the result in the meets,” she said. “Also, the boys 4×800 did amazing. I hope to see these continuous improvements throughout the rest of the indoor season along with the upcoming outdoor season.”
The team will next compete at the regional and state meets.
