Girls basketball drops to Walter Johnson, falls to 8-5

The girls basketball team lost to the 9-3 Walter Johnson Wildcats, 49- 36, Jan. 20, dropping its record to 8-5 on the season.

The Vikes failed to find their usual offensive rhythm during the first two quarters, trailing 25-15 at the end of the first half.

With the help of guards Lindsay Herschfeld and Rachel Sisco and forward Kristina Feldesman, each of whom finished with six points for the game, the team came out strong at the start of the second half, handily winning the third quarter 14-8.

The Vikes were not able to keep the comeback going into the fourth, however, losing the last quarter 16-7.

Many players contributed to the Vikes’ offense, with seven players scoring four or more points. Sisco and guard Brittany Fleck each added a three-pointer as well.

The team looks to bounce back when it hosts the 11-2 Churchill Bulldogs Jan. 24.
