Triangle Blog: Season-closing loss will benefit Redskins

The Redskins were crushed, 10-34, in their last game of the season by the recently grounded Eagles and the only thing I can say is…thank you.

The Skins had no chance of the playoffs and the only thing that can help this team now is a good draft pick. I’m all for working hard and I’m not saying the Skins should throw games away, but losing is the best thing they could have done.

The loss poises the Skins to draw the sixth pick in the draft and there are rumors that we could pick up Heisman winner quarterback Robert Griffin III.

The only other team that might pick Griffin is Cleveland, who is struggling with quarterback Colt McCoy.  But with quarterback Matt Barkley sticking around USC for another year, the Browns may take someone like running back Trent Richardson, and if they are bad enough in 2012 the Browns still have a chance at Barkley in the next draft.

So cross your fingers, Skins fans, and pray that Griffin and his crazy socks will be wearing burgundy and gold in 2012.
