The hockey team defeated the Wootton Patriots, 2-1, Dec. 16, raising its record to 4-0.
Forward Matt Lebeau scored the first goal of the game off assists from defensemen Dustin Gray and JM Hellman.
The Patriots fought back soon, however, tying up the score with a goal of their own.
Late in the third period, coming off the assist from defensemen Aidan Neustadtl and Gray, forward Seth Weintraub put in the game-winning goal, sealing the Vikes’ victory.
Beating Wootton, one of the Vikes’ toughest opponents, meant a lot for captain Neustadtl and the rest of the team.
“It means a lot, especially to the guys who have been on the team for a while, since we have a long history with them, and we know they’re a team that has won a bunch of state championships over the years,” Neustadtl said.
The Vikes take the ice against the Churchill Bulldogs at the Rockville Ice Arena Jan. 6.
