The field hockey team crushed the 1-3 Magruder Colonels, 9-2, Sept. 27, improving its record to 3-3.
The Lady Vikes dominated the game, scoring more goals in this game than they have in all games combined so far this season.
Led by attacker Krishna Jaitly, the Vikes took an early 1-0 lead. With dominant play, the team held a 4-0 lead going into halftime. Jaitly put the final goal of the half in with about ten minutes remaining, followed by two goals from midfielder Cassandra McAlister.
Magruder came out inspired after halftime, scoring their first goal of the game. However, attacker Sammy Tozzi responded, scoring two goals within a two-minute span.
Jaitly ended the game with four goals, while McAlister and Tozzi notched two goals each. Midfielder Margaret Gill scored the team’s final goal with two minutes left in the game, sealing the 9-2 victory.
“Now we’re 3-3, and kept our intensity the entire game,” defender Caroline Seibel said. “We now see that we can play throughout an entire game without giving up at any point.”
The team looks to move its record above .500 when it faces the undefeated Blake Bengals Oct. 3.
