Cross country competes in Oatlands Invitational

The varsity cross country team competed Sept. 18 at the Oatlands Invitational in Virginia.

Girls varsity kept its undefeated season alive with another first place finish, while the boys finished 33rd out of 46 teams.

Anna Ryba once again finished highest amongst the Lady Vikes in tenth place with a time of 19:21. For the second consecutive race, she was closely followed by teammate Caroline Guiot, who finished 11th with a time of 19:25.

Alexandra Phillips finished 21st place and Nicole Ihrie in 38th to help the team score a total of 153 points, 94 points better than runner-up Osbourn Park.

Following week three of the Montgomery County cross country season, Ryba, Phillips and Guiot are the top three individual ranked girls in the county, with 362.3, 314.7 and 282.4 points respectively.

The boys ended the race with 819 points. Nick Adams placed highest for the boys, finishing in 38th with a time of 16:47.

The team’s next race is away against the Magruder Colonels Sept. 20.
