The girls lacrosse team fell to the 12-2 Sherwood Warriors, 8-1, in the second round of playoffs on May 14, ending its season at 5-9.
Center Maggie Schmidt scored in the first few minutes, but Sherwood goalie and Johns Hopkins recruit K.C. Emerson shut out the Vikes for the remainder of the game. Long offensive possessions by the Vikes kept the Warriors on defense and off the scoreboard for the first 15 minutes of the game. The first half ended with Sherwood leading 3-1.
The Warriors scored five unanswered goals in the second half despite good offensive chances by the Vikes and key saves from goalie Hannah Nowack.
In the only previous match-up between the teams in the regular season, Sherwood defeated the Vikes 16-3. Sherwood advances to play rival Walter Johnson in the third round.
