The co-ed volleyball team won its first round playoff game in three sets against the Northwood Gladiators on May 4.
The team came out slow and lost the first set 25-22. However, led by great play from senior Nate Cannon, the team rebounded after the first set, winning the next three with scores of 25-16, 25-22, and 25-21.
“We played well yesterday, hit our stride early on and set into a good rhythm,” head coach Geoff Schaefer said. “The kids rose up and met the challenge.”
The team hopes to further advance in the playoffs when they play the Sherwood Warriors on May 6.
“Sherwood is a solid opponent, they beat us in three sets, 25-9, 25-12, and 25-10 the first time around,” Schaefer said. “But we were missing players so they expect no challenge from us, but this time we plan to have the full team and are ready to bring our game to them”.
