Students’ College Board account information, including full names and email addresses, may now be in the hands of hackers after its security system was breached April 2.
Epsilon, a marketing company which sends mass emails for major businesses like College Board, announced April 1 that an unspecified person hacked their email system.
The full names and email addresses of about 2 percent of their clientele was leaked, Epsilon wrote in a press release. The hacker didn’t obtain social security numbers or credit card information.
Junior Jayne Liu alerted friends to the hack in her Facebook status after receiving an email from the College Board, but she isn’t worried about any personal information being leaked.
“The College Board email said that all the important information is safe,” she said. “But I’m definitely going to double check with the website’s security policies and information before I fill out any forms now.”
Other Epsilon clients that were affected include Best Buy, JP Morgan, Visa, American Express, Marriott and Staples.
