The varsity softball team fell to the Quince Orchard Cougars, 9-8, on March 26, dropping its record to 1-1-1.
In the first few innings, the game started out slow. Both teams defended well but were not successful at the plate. However, things all changed in the third inning when the Lady Vikes gave up 9 runs due to several errors and strong Cougar hits.
The Vikings spent the rest of the game trying to recover for the damage that was done. They were able to score 8 runs, but fell one run short of tying the game.
Ali Rhode pitched well for the Vikings and sophomore Sydney Gertzog had a clutch triple that helped to put the Vikes back in the game.
The Vikings will look for their second win of the season Tuesday March 29 against Paintbranch.
