The American Scholastic Press Association awarded the yearbook, Saga, and the literary magazine, Eidolon, first-place ratings for 2010.
Over 700 publications entered the contest, ASPA chairman Richard Plass said. Saga won one of fifty first-place ratings in the competition’s most popular yearbook category, determined by school type and size. Eidolon earned first place out of nine entries in the magazine category.
The organization’s annual review gives advice to school publications across the country on elements including story structure, page design, headlines and photos. Rankings for submitted school publications begin at first place with special merit, then first, second and third.
“I’m always very happy when students win awards for their publication,” Eidolon adviser Susan Buckingham said. “It’s the students that do the work.”
Eidolon and Saga have both previously received first-place honors.
