The field hockey team (10–1) defeated the Damascus Hornets (7–3) 4–0 on Tuesday night.
At first, the Vikes struggled to get things going as they found it difficult to adjust to the grass field. Once they got used to the playing surface, the team quickly began to dominate possession over the Hornets. Senior Caris Costigan sent one into the back of the net to get the Vikes on the board first in the first quarter. Shortly after, senior Cata Sposato added one more to put the Vikes up 2–0 going into the second half.
In the second half, the Vikes once again looked like the better team against an impressive Damascus squad. Despite a few corners against the defense, the Vikes held strong and prevented the Hornets from getting any good opportunities at a goal. Sposato and junior Maya Raphael led the way on the offensive end, scoring one each to seal the victory 4–0 over Damascus.
The team next plays the Quince Orchard Cougars (7–2) on Tuesday at 6 P.M. in the Cougar Dome.
